Bruno Walpoth

Italian sculptor Bruno Walpoth's wooden sculptures are breathtakingly beautiful in their silent meditative poses. The life size figurative sculptures are very lifelike, they almost appear to have a soul, a spark of life which creates a desire in the viewer to reach out and touch, to engage with the work. The eyes of the sculptures and their gazes are very emotive, as they seem to silently attempt to communicate with the viewer or their maker. I wonder what they are feeling, what is it they are trying to say? The white wash finish on the wooden figures gives them an otherworldly ghost-like feel, as if they exist in this world but also in the one beyond, and by being in their presence the viewer also becomes part of another hidden world. Amazing!!
